Why You Shouldn’t Avoid Financial Obligations

When it comes to looking at financial things in your life, many only look at their financial situation when things are all good. Like when they get the big check or the consistent money. But when things are going left, they tend to not look at the details of their finances to avoid how bad things can be. Taking a real look at the numbers can leave feelings of stress and depression, so they avoid it at all costs.

Here are two reasons why you should not avoid looking at your financial situation, even if you think it is bad:

  1. You can go from a little stressed to overwhelmingly depressed and hopeless if you don’t look at your finances because by the time you get up the guts to do it, your finances are the in the shitter. At first you owed $3,000, now, after avoiding it, you owe $10,000. By then your finances are all out of whack and you are getting more and more in debt with no clue how to catch up.  In order to have a real handle of where things really are, look at it all the time so that you always have a guesstimate of the good, bad, and ugly.

  1. You can’t fix the problem if you don’t know what exactly it is. You have to know exactly what financial burdens you have to start effectively tackling them. You have to know what you make, how much debt you have accumulated, and how much income you have to support it. Ever bought something you wanted but didn’t need, just before seeing a cut-off notice? You probably felt like “if only I had known it was close to getting cut-off then I wouldn’t have bought what I bought.” Think about it, if you would took a look when things started to go down, it might be easier then than waiting months and months or even years then trying to catch up. If you avoid the problems until the end, it can be harder to try to get any solution to get you back in a financially happy place. Fix it now, not later.

When it comes to your finances, be sure to look at them when they are good and when they are bad. Keeping a close eye on them allows you to be better prepared for what is to come, especially if you are having a bad season with your business. When you take time to actually see what it is going on, instead of avoiding it, you can more adequately start to solve the money problems. I don’t want your hand on your forehead with the frown face. I want smiles because you know you took control of your finances.
