A lot of businesses have a high-revenue period and a low-revenue period. These periods can happen within a week, a month, a quarter, or a year. Whenever business slacks up and you are not bringing in as much revenue, this is your slow season. The slow season is not a time of rest, it is a time to build. That’s right, turn your slow season into your building season by preparing the business to increase revenue and decrease your time in slow seasons.
Here are 3 ways to turn your slow season into a building season:
- Create or Grow Social Media – Social Media is today’s Entrepreneur’s television and radio exposure. It plays a vital role in more people knowing about you and your business. Studies show that customers buy from people and companies that they “like, know, and trust”. An Entrepreneur without the budget for an advertising agency or marketing department, can showcase who they are, what they believe, who they serve, and how they can help all through social media. If you do not have a at least one social media account, then start one. If you have one, then start creating contenting for it on a regular basis. Which social media platform do you create an account on? That’s easy, where are your potential customers? Sign up for that one and get noticed. If you are on one social media platform AND it is doing well, find another social media platform where your customers are and grow that one.
- Pop Up And Sale In A Flash – A great new trend for businesses is to create pop up shops or flash sales. Pop up shops are portable and temporary opportunities for current and new customers to buy from you. They are usually physical locations placed in an area where other companies in your business may not be. You can even host one inside another business. Flash sales are usually digital, rather than physical, and is a sale with a great prices not associated a holiday or other expected sale opportunities. To get the word out, send email blasts, pump it on social media, text and so much. See what your clients’ want or need, then give them to them… when they least expect it.
- Turn Your Marketing To Beast Mode – When business is slow, is the best time to look at your past, current, and future marketing. Evaluate your marketing for what campaigns. Which ones got the best results for increasing your revenue? What keywords did you use? What emotions did you invoke with your messaging? What problems did you solve for your customers with the products or services featured in that marketing? Whatever worked, do more of that. Also look for things you haven’t tried yet and try new things.
When things slowdown IN your business it is time to put just as much focus on working ON your business. This is the time to be as strategic as you can be with creating more opportunities for increasing your revenue. Even though it is so many things you can do, these are just a few. Implement these tips to build in your slow times and you may find that you have created a business that consistently earns great profit all year long.
