Additional income is something that we all want to have more of. Last week we talked about selling things out of your home that you no longer want or do not need anymore. From selling those items alone, you can make anywhere from $1 to thousands of extra dollars in a month. Another way to make additional money is to become an eBay or Amazon seller. Note that this is different than using eBay for selling your used items, as directed last week. Now we are talking about selling or reselling new items. It’s great because you do not ever have to touch the product, worry about storing inventory or worry about shipping the items from your home when sold.
You can become what is called a third party vendor(drop shipper). It can be a time consuming task, if you do it fulltime with no help. However, if you do it part-time it can be less work but just as lucrative. Even as a part-time endeavor, you can still make up to an additional $1k or more… all from the inside of your home.
Things you will need:
- time
- computer
- credit card
- patience
You will need time to find all the products that you will need to sell. Sometimes you may find them quickly and sometimes it may take a while. This can be the most labor intensive part of this process.
These days you can do most anything on your phones that you can do on a computer or tablet. However, sometimes on a phone you are unable to see everything on a webpage and/or not allowed the same functions as seeing the same website on a computer. Also, to get the best value and product, you will need to go between websites to compare products and pricing. It is worth it to do all of this from a computer. If you do not have one, invest in one; whether it be a laptop or a desktop computer.
You will need a credit card to buy the items that you will sell. When finding products online, companies do not take cash for purchases the items. In some instances using a credit card is better than using a debit because your purchases will be protected. Be sure to check in with the issuing bank for your credit card.
Not only may you have to use your patience in finding products to sell, but you will also to infuse patience into your payment expectations. Amazon pays every two weeks. eBay pays once a week during your probationary period, then it changes more frequently after you probationary period ends. You have wait for the money to come in for all of your sales within that time period.
