Are You Making Profits?

Are You Making Profits?

Having an idea and turning that idea into a business is difficult, however it is just the first step. Now you have to create revenue in that business and an overflow to produce profits. How to structure your business to produce a profit can sometimes be specific to the type of business that you have. However, here are a five tips that will allow you to increase your potential for profit no matter what your business is:

  1. Schedule Price Increases. For some businesses, the strategy is to have the best prices, meaning competitively low prices. That strategy is only a good strategy if it is bringing in enough business volume that a profit is still being made. For most of us, our strategy should be to provide the best service that people are willing to invest in. With the latter, your business has more value and you can incrementally raise your prices to match that value. Even something that was once free can increase to $0.99 and add to the bottom line. As your business grows and your expertise grows, start implementing price growth.

  1. Step Up Your Marketing. How often are you getting your products, services, and expertise in front of potential clients? You need to get this information in front of current clients, past clients, and potential clients. It can be in the form of what’s new, what’s on sale, what you has always been a service, how you can help, what are the results they can get, etc… This can be done as advertisements or even more productively (and should be more frequently) as content. Investing time and money into marketing is investing in the future cash flow of your business.

  1. Great Customer Service. Customer service is important. Bad customer service equals bad business and less money. Good customer service equals repeat clients, referrals, and more money. Word of mouth is a form of referral and lots of money is made off of one person telling more people about your business. Never forget to give great service to prime your business for great profits.

  1. Expand Your Market. You should start with one city to solve one problem with one solution. Once your product or service has been proven effective and your expertise cemented, then you can expand. You can take the same product or service to a new city or you can add a new product or service as an offering to your current city. Domination starts with do well with one thing THEN expanding to do well with the next thing. It is better to be a master of one than a jack of all.

  1. Plan For Profit. “Failing to plan is planning to fail.” That quote is true for maximizing the money in your business. Just winging it has a slim chance of being success and because you haven’t documented the steps in a plan, it may also be hard to reproduce should you luck up with success. Create a plan for creating profit in your business. Having the details allow you to adjust and tweak as you create a way to repeat your successfully path to profits.

Everyone wants to have a profitable business. It is rarely an overnight process, and instead a strategic plan. Use these steps to start being strategic about creating profit in your business today.
